What’s in the Box
When your window hood arrives check that you have all the components. There should be:
- 1 flat plate hood
- 1 flat plate fixing strip
- Required fixings
All fixings are included for standard masonry or timber walls. If you have another material (such as foam), you may need to source your own fixings.

Easy Installation When Building Your New Home/Building Prior to Cladding
Installation
- For new home builds install the window hood after the windows are added into the frame, but before the insulation and cladding is added.
- You will want to make sure there is a lintel, king stud or noggin behind the space the hood is to be installed to.
- Once the frame support is ready, position hood with help or lifting equipment.
- Measure & mark up the points you want to install the M10 bolts or screws. Typically this will be connected to the frame every 450 mm and 2 bolts / screws per connection point.
- Double check measurements and then pilot drill the location of the mounting holes.
- Ensure you use the supplied fixing strip for maximum strength and N3 compliance.
- Drill your first connection point to suit your chosen fastener. Start at the furthest left or right connection.
- Connect 1 bolt or screw but do not tighten.
- Use a level to set the position and then drill the remaining connection points.
- Apply sealant to back of the hood plate.
- Tighten and fix hood through fixing plate and back hood plate to wall using M10 Chemset, Dynabolts, or timber screws - as appropriate.
- Your hood is installed.
- Then clad over the top of the back kick up down to the flat face of the hood.

That depends on a lot of factors like time of day, weather outside, size of window, your latitude & longitude and many other factors. As a broad generalised statement, you should reduce solar heat gain by up to 70% and with this also save on energy costs.
Yes. Solid top plates and included flashing keep water out. If required use appropriate sealant (not supplied), i.e. foam fillers, sillicone or Sikkaflex. Please note, this hood does not replace the need for window flashings as per Australian Building Standards.
